About the Lab

Practical Networking and Blockchain Lab explores networking and blockchain from both theoretical and practical perspectives. We emphasize turning promising ideas into working systems, benchmarking their performance, and investigating the research challenges that make these systems meaningful and impactful.

Our work spans systems design, implementation, experimentation, and evaluation. We focus on building robust prototypes, understanding performance and scalability trade-offs, and developing solutions that can be validated in real-world environments. We collaborate with researchers, practitioners, and organizations both within and beyond the institute, engaging in R&D, system deployment, and the broader adoption of networking and blockchain technologies.

The lab was originally established as Practical Networking Lab in 2015. In 2019, Chainers Lab was launched to pursue research in blockchain, with Chaintope Inc. as a founding sponsor. In 2020, the two labs were integrated to form the Practical Networking and Blockchain Lab, bringing together their expertise in networking, blockchain, and practical systems research.
